Best All Terrain Truck Tires 2017 – We run many different tires in TFL with a variety of different testing trucks and SUVs. Which is the best and quietest all-terrain tire on the sidewalk? All the years of off-road experience will help answer AskTFL questions today, even though we also ask for help from you (our readers). Here’s the question:
I JUST BUY TOYOTA TACOMA TRD SPORTS 2018. I SEE TO GET SOME OF THE TIRE ALL TERRAIN FOR IT. BUT I DON’T KNOW THAT I HAVE TO GET. I WANT THAT WITH LOW NOISE IN THE ROAD. I KNOW YOU GUYS HAS TRYED A LOT OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Best All Terrain Truck Tires 2017
First, we will answer the question ourselves, and we will start with a list of popular all-terrain tires. Which tire do we choose? You can follow in the polling and comments section below and let us know.
[Editor’s note: no tire company listed below sponsors this post or TFLtruck.com.]
BFGoodrich T / A K02
Bridgestone Dueler AT
Cooper Discoverer AT / 3
Falken Wildpeak AT
General Grabber AT2
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac
Goodyear Wrangler with Kevlar
Hankook DynaPro AT
Michelin LTX AT2
Nitto Ridge Grappler
Yokohama Geolander AT
As for our opinion: each of these tires will offer different noise levels when walking on the sidewalk, and the best way to predict how hard they are without actually testing them is to pay attention to the tread pattern. The farther the tread is, the more noise the tire will produce.
We have no experience with each ban in the list above, but this is what we know. Nitto Ridge Grapplers, BFGoodrich T / A K02s, Michelin AT2s, Goodyear Wranglers with Kevlar and General Grabbers are all tires that are quite quiet on the road, while still providing good off-road performance. Everything will still be a little harder than road tires, but nothing is that hard to disturb.
Another thing to note is that most of the tires mentioned have increased snow, ice and wet traction. When we said it was improved, what we meant was the previous generation tires only a few years ago.
Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs are a little harder than other members in our experience, as does Cooper STT Pro (although they are at the aggressive end of the scale for AT).
Now is when you can join. Below is a poll, asking for your help where all terrain tires (A / T) are the calmest in your experience.
