Old Ford Pickup Trucks For Sale – Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) said that US sales for F-Series pickups dropped 0.9% in November, to 72,102 trucks sold. On the one hand, the decline in sales of the F-Series has always been worrying for Ford shareholders, given that large pickups provide a huge portion of the profits of the carmaker. On the other hand, when Ford officials quickly pointed out, 72,102 trucks were still many trucks, and November was the ninth consecutive month in which Ford sold more than 70,000 Series-F.
Long story short, that is not necessarily a bad outcome in context. But here’s the problem: While US F-Series sales declined slightly in November, overall full-size US sales pickup rose 8.4% last month. Who squeezed all the extra pickup sales, if not Ford?

Two more big rivals
The short answer is that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (NYSE: FCAU) has banner years in many fields, one of which is a full size pickup. FCA Ram pickup sales rose 42% last month, as the company continued to sell stock of 2018 trucks coming out while enjoying strong demand for the All New 2019 Ram 1500.
But there is a little more story: General Motors (NYSE: GM) also seems to have a good month. While GM no longer reports US sales figures per month, Automotive News estimates that sales of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra – both also new for 2019 – rose a combined 8.2% in November.
What is brought here?
Ford is still the market leader, but lost a little land in November. The overall US market for full-size pickups is still growing, but Ford has not captured much of the current growth.
Is that a problem? Not necessarily. Consider: The Ford F-150 is a new product for the 2015 model. Ford remains up to date, and it’s still a competitive product, but both FCA and GM have just launched all new-year full-size models in 2019. In general, in autos, fresh products attract the most interest from customers and order the highest prices. That still seems true even when competition is the proud Ford F-150.
What’s more, at present, the FCA and GM each sell a mix of new trucks and aggressive exit models. New trucks bring curious customers to dealers, and discounted 2018 trucks offer value for those who don’t want to pay full price for new models. Meanwhile, Ford – for its credit – doesn’t play in discount games. The average F-Series transaction price in November was $ 47,000, said Ford – around $ 1,800 higher than the industry average.
So here’s a takeaway: While rival new models (and old models that are very discounted) might steal some sales, Ford still sells a lot of trucks at very strong prices. And the possibility is that Ford will steal market momentum again when the F-150 recently arrived in 2020.
