Custom Fire Trucks, New Norristown fire truck may be ready in time for Christmas-If Santa meets his promise, Norristown firefighters will see delivery of their new Quint firewall before Christmas.
The production of customized and high-quality HP 78 Quint products began in June at Emergency One or E-One in Ocala, Florida, when the Norristown City Council stated that Tom O ‘Donnell, the Fire Protection Manager.
At that time the truck had to be delivered at the end of the summer, but the factory’s problems made it a little less, said O’Donnell at Orlando Airport in October when he and four others returned from Norristown. The vehicle was completed for $ 800,000.
“Everyone had a job, and it took two days for everything to be perfect,” he said. “The truck is designed to be used in our community, so it was important that the turning radius was correct and that the tilt angles of the truck were adjusted to different heights, even this was possible.”

Some details had to be completed at the factory, O’Donnell allowed and added: “We hope the truck will be open and will work next month.” Some things remain at the factory and then the vehicle is driven from Florida to a Lancaster dealer to carry out state inspections and some other things. ”
By the end of the first week of December, everyone was preparing for a few days of factory training, O’Donnell said the truck would be open to the public within a few weeks.
The new Quint replaces American LaFrance Quint in 2001, which, according to O’Donnell, has collected more than 90,000 km of firefighters.
“The American LaFrance has really survived its usefulness to the community, the trucks are us, the more we get older, the more we have to go to the doctor, the older the fireman, the more often he has to go to the mechanic,” said O ‘Donnell. “The manufacturer has no business if the truck fails, it is difficult to find parts here.”
Anchored in the Typhoon frame, Quint has a Hale 1500 GPM pump, a 78-foot aluminum duct and can hold 500 liters of water. The total cost of the project is $ 837,214, O’Donnell said in June.”The car has two tasks built on the truck,” he explained. “Traders often want to sell you a fire truck that we wanted to be a lorry built in our neighborhood, and told the producers what we wanted to do for the truck and (a) the vehicle Quint is the third fire engine bought by Emergency One in Norristown in 1974.
“We have a heavy truck and a heavy ambulance, even from a company, and we are very pleased with what they’ve done for us,” said O’Donnell House, so they can see what it really means. The money was used to buy from the public.
