Firestone Light Truck Tires, TESTING THE NEW FIRESTONE TRANSFORCE AT2 TIRE-What’s in a name? Many asked; Only a few have received a good response. Nowadays there are more and more tire manufacturers that you have never heard of. Certainly, some of them offer a great product for the price, but it is almost impossible to separate the name of the tire manufacturer or not, when the audience realizes that the tires to be worn, disappear as quickly as they appeared .
Enter a company you’ve heard of: Firestone, the new Transforce AT2, which can be used off-road for heavy and medium-heavy. Almost all ties require that buyers make commitments. Fortunately for us, the Transforce AT2 forklift goes much further than ever. These tires (size 285 / 70R17 LT) are formed with a connection with tear-resistant rubber and tear adequate for the difficult roads, such as stones and gravel. The tread of these tires is also deeper than that of the original AT Trans, which is expected to improve traction in wet conditions and mud while increasing grip on snow. The large spaces between the slats and the narrow blocks of the tread remove the water and clean the tread, while a surface of new contact between the tread and the road, giving more storage performance over the life of the tire. This seems like a perfect combination for us. This is how these tires worked during the tests of several months, mainly on paved roads, occasionally in sand, mud, gravel and rain.
Soft sand is difficult on every tire, especially on a heavy truck. We rarely used the truck to race in the dunes, but the Firestone Trans AT2 surprised us with its performance in the sand, especially when we were pushing the used Trailer Platform. The large and heavy turbodiesel has turned the tires and we have continued on the wet sand, with well-packed dunes at the front. This ride to the arena was fun, but the tight suspension of the older truck and probably we need special towing equipment to prevent our car from coming there. A trailer installation must do its job at night. We see a lot of use and abuse and little love, but we hope it is very reliable. Having a solid and resistant tire, despite the use and abuse, is exactly what the truck needs. We also narrowed the tires for this test in an effort to refine the vehicle’s speed ratio to reduce fuel consumption before resuming the axles. The longer tires are always fun, but not always practical. Until now we were only impressed by the performance of the Firestone Transforce AT2 in our old Dodge 2500 ……
